Wedding Trends (2011 thru 2012)

Wondering what's trendy right now in Wedding Gowns?  The following are all design elements that have become popular recently and look to be popular in the upcoming year.

1.  Long Sleeves on wedding gowns:

(and didn't we get so tired of strapless?  I think strapless has gotten soooo boring)

2.  Ornate skirts - whether tulle, organza, butterfly, or feathers, there is a definite trend towards a focus on the skirt

3.  It's all about lace - lace on bodice, lace sleeves and especially lace over-lays

4.  This has been a bit of a trend for a while, but with the lace over-lays, colored sashes have become even more popular

5.  Sleeves of all types, not just long, have made a return

6.  Cute headpieces, both retro and tiara's without traditional veils have also become a trend

7.  And over the top, including colored gowns is also a current trend (not something many girls can pull off, but for those who can, it's pretty fun)

7.  Short gowns, especially retro styled are also very au current

If you're planning a wedding, the most important thing is to not try to incorporate every trend.  You're wedding should be a reflection of who you are!

Asia Tanner - Fabulous Photographer

Remember in the last blog we were talking about having great Senior photos? Well this is a local Phoenix photographer who does not only awesome senior photos but other cool photos that show tons of personality.

Her name is Asia Tanner and her philosophy behind photography is to capture natural moments - to capture YOU being YOU.

Asia has an arrangement with the Glass Slipper Phoenix where if you'd like to schedule a photography session with her, for $35 more you can have access to our wardrobe of dresses for a couple of hours.

This might be the perfect thing for your senior portraits, for your engagement shots, portfolio, etc.

She recently even used our back yard as a place to do a photo shoot with this lovely young lady, Lindsey Williams who is an amazing local singer and musician  (check out the link on her name to see her facebook page and listen to a few of her fabulous songs, she is awesome).

Contact Asia at aetphotography (asiatanner@yahoo.com) if you're looking for a great photographer in Phoenix and consider the Glass Slipper as a source for wardrobe!

(the Glass Slipper in Rexburg has wardrobe rental packages avaiable for photography as well!)

Senior Photos

Okay so a lot of times your senior year your high school will have you work with a specific photography studio who contracts with your school for photos.  I won't name names, but these photography studios are often the Walmarts of photography.  They mass produce a particular type of thing, and they do it well enough, but it lacks cool and it lacks personality.  Your senior photo will end up looking like hundreds of people's senior photos.

Smart seniors often turn to a trusted photographer or photography studio to do something a little more special.  You can still get your "official" yearbook photo taken by the photographer your school requests, but you are always free to have your portraits taken with any photographer you like.

Photographers usually will instruct you to bring several different outfit changes.  That's where The Glass Slipper can come in handy.  Both locations of The Glass Slipper offer options where you can rent several dresses for your photography session, to turn those photos into something a little extra special.

Here are some gorgeous photos of Blaiklee Mikel Cook, seen here wearing some of The Glass Slipper's Gowns.  She graduated in 2010.  Aren't her photos stunning?

Contact The Glass Slipper if you'd like to know more about renting dresses for a photography session.

Daring Dress

Super fun & cool but...

Do you dare wear Converse with your homecoming or prom dress?

The key to this look is two things -

1.  The fun personality to pull it off.

and

2.  A dress that works with the shoes.  Tulle is good, bold colors are good, and a solid colored dress works well too.

If you end up wearing your dress with converse we'd love to feature you on the blog.  Send us some photos to: glassslipperphoenix@gmail.com and we'll do a blog post on you.
